What is a label printer?

Label printers are widely used in businesses for printing different formats such as labels, shipping, round tags and wristbands for address, and other media slips. The label format may differ as they come in different widths 0 8inches, height 0 11inches, and shaped corners. In addition, different types of papers can be used on labels such as standard, sticker type, or adhesive backed.
The print speed of Toshiba label printers is different and not measured in the same manner as regular desktop printers. The length of the output is used as a measure rather than using printed pages per minute or PPM. Label printers with maximum resolutions print out specialized and very fine prints. In addition, the Epson label printer is a specialized printer that has been widely used in businesses to print labels, tags, and barcodes.
Canon label printers can either work as a stand alone device or with computers to process their print jobs or operate through its built in operating system. Toshiba, Epson, Brother, Canon and Zebra are the leading brands offering high quality label printers.

Types of thermal label printers

There are two types of label printers named Direct Thermal and Thermal Transfer label printers.
Direct Thermal
Direct thermal Brother Label printers use heat to print labels, tags, barcodes, graphics, and texts. These printers offer an overall low cost printing option because they don’t entail any consumable replacement.

Thermal Transfer
Thermal transfer label printer uses carbon ribbons to print labels in either wax or resin grades. The process of thermal transfer printing is quite different from direct thermal printing. Thermal transfer printers provide bright and crisp labels with longer shelf life.
