What is a Solar Panel?

Solar energy begins with sunlight. Solar panels convert light from the sun into electricity that can be used to power electrical loads. Solar panels are composed of numerous silicon cells that are sited on a back sheet. This back sheet makes a grid type design.
Solar panels are available in two different sizes: 60 cell and 72 cell. This shows the number of cells the tiny, crystalline silicon wafer on the solar panel.
A high quality solar panel is guaranteed to last for 25 to 30 years and even after the warranty expires. PNI, Comar, PNI, Konek, Goal Zero, and Phonovox manufacture the best quality solar panels.
When it comes to the metal frame around the borders of the panels, you have two colour choices i e; black and silver. Black frame panels look more aesthetically appealing but they will be an expensive option.

Types of Solar Panels

Monocrystalline Panels
Monocrystalline panels are typically the more efficient type of solar panels. They have an overall darker tint to the cells with higher efficiency to produce energy. It means fewer solar panels can generate more electricity hence your overall system takes up less space. But, monocrystalline panels are the more expensive ones.

Polycrystalline Panels
Polycrystalline panels are less efficient as compared to monocrystalline panels. They have a bluer tint and you typically need a few more panels to produce the same amount of electricity. However, Polycrystalline panels are less expensive and a cheaper option.
