These mountain shoes are made with a Contagrip MA, which is one of the most durable, resistant, and with the best grip on a wide variety of surfaces, such as dry, wet, or rocky, so they have a Profeel Film that protects the foot from these rocky terrains. The Energy Surge midsoles combine EVA foam with olefinic fiber for giving cushioning and reactivity.

These shoes have been awesome since the second I pulled them out of the box. Lightweight, supportive, and just grippy enough. The only thing preventing a 5-star rating is the mesh lace storage seems like it´s upside-down? Hopefully this is corrected in V2. Highly recommend!

I’ve been waiting for a higher cushion shoe from Salomon for all-day efforts. The Ultra Glide is it! It has great traction for performing on a variety of technical to buffed out trails while maintaining the highest level of comfort. A great shoe for those who want a bit more cushion than the Sense Ride, or runners looking for an alternative to other higher cushion shoes like Hokas. My new go-to shoe for any race effort over 5 hours.

I bought these to find a replacement for speedcross 5, and so far I haven´t been disappointed. Ran over 100 km in total so far and really like it. They do not support the ankle as much as speedcross, but that´s a matter of taste I guess. The quick lace "pocket" is really placed in a bad way, you cannot easily but the lace in. There only 4 stars, the cushion and feeling on the feet is really good. So, so far I am very satisfied

This is a great shoe! I liketo wear a super high cushioned shoe on some of my long trail runs. It’s nice to rotate it in to switch it up. I normally wear an 8 drop and do fine in these with an insert. I also think it has a good amount of tread for the trails. Love it!

There was so much hype for this product, I could not wait to get my hands on it. The fit is very accommodating for the wider foot, and the cushion is amazing. I took these on a couple runs and one big backpacking trip and my feet were the only thing not hurting at the end - hah! I love to medium/ lower drop option too. If you traditionally wear something like a Hoka Speedgoat, or just really want a more cushioned shoe for the long (or short) haul - do yourself a favor and get your hands on these!

Some things I love most about these shoes are the amazing cushion, zero break-in needed (took them on a 6 and then 8 mile trail run on back to back days without blisters or hot spots) and they also have solid traction for some scrambling! Per usual, in most shoes I´m a 6 or 6.5, but I´ve always been a 5.5 in all Salomon shoes.

I mainly run trails, and while I’ve preferred more minimal shoes, rocky terrain has given my feet some trouble. In these shoes, I don’t feel the bumps in the trail, AND they seem to keep traction quite well. Also, the orange color is beautiful. I wear a size 5.5-6wms, and the 5 fit me perfectly._x000D_ _x000D_ Because the cushioning and shape of the shoe, I’ve felt my ankles roll a little easier though. I wouldn’t recommend using these shoes to run really rocky trails if you have ankle issues given the softness of the sole. Not necessarily a negative, as these shoes aren’t advertised as such, but a consideration nontheless.

My Glides have abut 150 miles on them so far and they are my go to shoe for basically all terrain currently. I was a die hard Sense Ride fan but I´m loving how light and just like, easy these are. I appreciate the lil bit of cushion but its not enough to feel over done - I can still feel the trail under my feel which is great. Overall, an incredible shoe. My new fave for sure!

I brought these shoes with me on my last backpacking trip to the Wind River Range in Wyoming. I backpacked, hiked, and ran in them - never got tired of them! The cushioning makes them so comfortable for rocky trails, and they had virtually no break-in period! At the end of a long day, I didn´t even want to swap them out for my camp shoes!

A great first version of a shoe I hope will take a couple steps forward for v2! I run trails in Vermont and NH which are generally very technical. I wouldn’t say these are the best choice for very technical trails, but at slower speeds do alright. There are only two areas that I would argue could be improved. The first is forefoot protection. I’m not sure why Salomon left out the profeel film (rock “plate”) as you can feel the small stones and roots, which for an ultra show is not what you’d want. Not a deal breaker, but it limits its use. I’ve only taken them up to 12 miles, but will be curious how my feel would feel after 20 miles. The other issue is the upper. Very built up which I’m sure will aid in durability. But these don’t breathe all that well in hot and humid weather and once they get sweaty or wet? They stay that way and don’t dry particularly fast. Lost of think foam on tongue and heel just soak it right up. But overall a solid shoe and one I look forward to running more miles in this fall.

I was so excited to get these shoes as I was in need of new trail shoes and was training for a 50K. After reading and researching, I felt like the Ultra Glides were exactly what I was looking for and I was right! I have about 185 miles on them now and haven´t had a single issue or complaint. I most often run on mixed terrain, with some very rocky portions, some sand, and packed dirt. They felt comfortable right out of the box and have continued to feel that way over the miles, no rubbing, no hot spots. They have a nice amount of cushioning, the toe box is roomy, the heel is nicely supported. The Quicklace system is a great feature. I typically wear a size 7 in running shoes and got these in a size 7, without trying them on, and they fit exactly right. I just ordered another pair because they are out of stock so often and I am afraid of not having a fresh pair when I need them. Love these, Salomon!

I’ve had a few nice longer runs (10+ Miles) in these Ultra Glides. First off, they are 100% amazing for long runs right out of the box! the cushion is awesome. Finally a salomon shoe that has a good cushion! I’ve been waiting for these! _x000D_ _x000D_ There are some pros and cons… _x000D_ _x000D_ Pros: - amazing right out of the box_x000D_ -A little wider toe box than sense rides which I like. Although the sense rides are one of my favorites. I have like 10 pairs hahaha_x000D_ -the cushion is so comfortable but not crazy cushy to where it would feel weird coming from a sense ride. Easy transitions. And you still will get a little feedback from the trails _x000D_ -the colors are chill! _x000D_ -easy to clean_x000D_ _x000D_ Cons: the material seems a little much, not as breathable as sense rides. _x000D_ -I feel like the cushion will wear down a little fast. But for their first cushy shoe I think it’s great and will only get better. It’ll still last some good time. I’m not even at 100 miles yet so we’ll see how they hold up. _x000D_ -the tread is great. very similar to sense rides. I do wish they could have more of a vibrant bottom for the slippery utah rocks here and there but I still like these more than my hokas. And I only use to run in hokas. _x000D_ - I feel like they are a little tighter than sense rides and I think I’ll get a half size up to try next _x000D_ _x000D_ All in all I love them and not only will I get a few pairs to train in, I’ll probably buy a new pair and pull them right out of the box for my 50k Bryce Canyon race.

Recently purchased these for a 100k race which had 2 river crossings and mostly rocky terrain. I normally wear Sense Ride which drain quite well. Ultra Glide had poor water drainage and I was running with FULL shoes for quite awhile after soaking them. _x000D_ I don’t normally wear a cushioned shoe because they just feel “sloppy”. Ultra Glide fit is awesome, generous toe box, responsive in the forefoot and cradles the foot. I live in the Pacific NW, so winter running means splashing through a lot of water so these will likely stay in the closet until it’s dry. _x000D_ Really like them so far other than the drainage issue!

Love my speedcross trail shoes but wanted something with more cushion to get my feet through my first ultra. This shoe fits the bill! Fits like the speedcross but has enough cushion to keep my feet from getting sore. Not stiff like some other cushioned trail shoes I´ve tried. Only downside I´ve found is that The lugs are much shallower than the speedcross so doesn´t have a much traction in muddy conditions. Sizing is the same as the other shoes for me.

I’d size down a half size, this is right in line w the sizing ove the last year that seems to be rounded up and my usual size borders on too big. _x000D_ _x000D_ Not sure this is the ideal shoe for hyper-technical terrain, but for your longer shuffles, this show is the jam.

The fit, cushioning and the 6mm drop are all super except the toe box is a little wide for my narrow feet and the laces cut in on the top of the foot. Need the laces tight to prevent ankle rolls on trail but cuts in and irritates top of foot on downhills especially.

I was a bit skeptical to try these being the first higher cushion trail shoe that Salomon has released but I was not disappointed. I´ve put about 300 miles on these shoes (including a 100k race) and they have held up great. For their weight they offer unbeatable cushion. _x000D_ The traction is also unbeatable.

I now have about 120 miles in these shoes and they are my go-to for anything off road. _x000D_ Positives _x000D_ - great grip on all surfaces - mud, rock, wet grass and gravel, _x000D_ - Perfect lockdown with the quicklace system and never have to worry about losing my shoes in the mud or having to readjust them mid run. _x000D_ - Mid-sole feels responsive_x000D_ - good level of protection on the trails from rocks and roots_x000D_ _x000D_ Negatives _x000D_ - The tongue and upper is quite padded so they don´t dry very quickly if you get them wet_x000D_ - The lace ´garage´ could be better placed but not a major issue as it sits below the top of the laces when pulled tight. _x000D_ _x000D_ I would recommend this shoe to anyone running a variety of trails and would suggest going up half a size.

If the sense ride and ultra pro/ s/lab ultra had a child, this would be the shoe. I have been loving the sense ride as my go-to short to sometimes mid distance trail shoe, and as much as I like the ultra pro I did wish it to be a little more cushioned underfoot. The ultra glide is a perfect balance of cush and responsiveness without feeling too rigid. I used these right out of the box for a mid distance run and knew this was the next pair of shoes I use for pretty much all my longer runs (and shorter!) The only thing that still gets me is I am usually a size 11 and have been a consistent 10.5 in Salomon over the last 3-4 years. Another thing to keep in mind that this whole shoe is pretty plush, including the top. I do find it a bit difficult to tuck in the lace components in the garage because of how pillowy the tongue is and can create a tight toe-off when running, but play around with the tightness of the laces and figure out your happy medium. This is going to be my ultra racing shoe! Don´t go changin´ on me just yet!

Pros - the cushioning is great and the drop at 6mm works well for me._x000D_ - Nice grip on most surfaces (rock, dirt, woodwork, except slippery on some that are _x000D_ wet and muddy._x000D_ Cons - Toe box too roomy for my little feet and hard to get laces tighter in that area._x000D_ - Garage for laces is very difficult to deal with to tuck away lacing system._x000D_ - water goes right thru so I wear other shoes if running thru wet areas and creeks.

I love the S/Lab Ultra 3 and this is very similar (same sole and lugs) but with the extra cushioning which is great for longer days out or less technical running where I don’t feel like I need to feel the ground as much. _x000D_ _x000D_ My ultra 3’s are a UK 8 but I found in the ultra glide I can feel my toe touching the end of the toe box especially on downhills. So I ordered an 8.5 and these are better. Also not sure If this is due to the lacing system where sometimes I find it’s hard to lock your foot in place as compared with normal laces

I have run about 200 miles with these last summer. I really love them. They are super light, yet provide reasonable cushioning, and very responsive. I like the snug fit. Very stable and precise, they are my go to shoes for short distance (up to 10 miles) fast runs or races on dry trails. The grip is excellent on dry ground, less so if it becomes muddy.

I've been using the ultra glide for months now and they've gone super well with the various pains I have. Their cushioning is spectacular, they are super soft. I have used them in races and training, although they are not the shoes with the most adherence and duration that I have tried from Salomon, the health that their cushioning gives me compensates me!

I love the quality of Solomon shoes, but have always found the toe box too tight. These have enough space for my toes to breath without slipping around too much. The tred is good, though for me it could be a little more agressive. I have always liked the lace pocket on the tongue. This one is a little fiddly to get the lace into....maybe if the tongue was a bit longer? Overall though, it is a great shoe and my first 3 races in them went great! I was so happy to finally find a comfortable shoe for my fussy feet! But I can’t wear the laces all the way to the top, so I removed the lace on the right foot and tried to replace it with a Lock Laces lace. All good until one of the tab eyelets turned out to have too tight an opening to feed a non-quick-lace aglet through. The others seem fine, and I’m disappointed that one defect is keeping me from the lace and lacing pattern I need. Please make eyelets that will accommodate other brand laces. Quicklace isn’t for everyone.

I ordered online without trying. My last pair of Salomon running shoes were a bit larger than I’d like so I went a size down for these and they’re great. Good supportive shoes - I’ve only used a few times so far on gravelled trails with light snow, and felt sturdy on my feet. I love that the laces can’t come undone while running.

Bought these a few weeks ago for my holiday in Costa Rica very soon! I´ve only worn around my flat so far, but they´re the perfect length and colour and comfortable/spongey feel. _x000D_ Only thing that worried me is that I can feel contact on my foot arch - I´ve never had this before, so had to google if this meant the shoe was too narrow or if it was intended to be that way for extra support. I think it´s meant to be that way - I guess I´ll find out on holiday after lots of walking if they start to hurt! Unless Salomon can help me out here?_x000D_ _x000D_ FYI I have pretty narrow feet so would be surprised if they were too narrow.

I ordered them online because I had other Salomon and I figured I could hit the number. So it was. This trail running shoe is very comfortable. I have problems with delicate feet and it bothers me if I feel stones when I step on them, but the sole is thick and makes it very pleasant to walk on. It adapts very well to my foot and at the same time is resistant and offers protection. I love them! I am happy with them!
