The wider midsole and toe box of Speedgoat 2 were well received as were the more aggressive Vibram® MegagGrip lugs, which hold up to all kinds of rugged terrain. With the Speedgoat 3, weve added further heel support and midfoot lockdown in the upper as well as seatbelt support on each side. Its a combo that creates a protective cradle, which we believe makes the Speedgoat 3 the fastest, toughest trail running shoe out there

honestly I can only give my first impressions, since i have not put it into it's paces... i have only run a very short 10k trail run in it. the first thing that i noticed was that the fit was very snug. is this something that hoka purposely did? because as i remember a lot of people were complaining about how narrow the shoe is. if you had issues with how narrow the 2 was then you might want to pass on this one. otherwise it performed as expected. no changes in the midsole and outsole geometry, like there was a lot more midsole and outsole left from the speedgoat 2, so lets just change the upper and glue it to those left over SG2 midsoles and outsoles. the vibram outsole was fantastic as ever. always reliable. the upper was fine. putting aside that it was snug, it was fine, but only time will tell how good the improvement are to the upper since many runners experienced rips to the upper especially near the small toe area with the SG2. the cushion is, as always with a hoka is plush. but a think not as plush with the SG2. anyway the shoe might need to be broken into to really get a good feel of the performance, who knows, the snug feeling that i get might go away in a few runs... should come with wide sizes. but all in all its looking like another great shoe from hoka...

Very nice shoes. I just feel a little smaller. Hit your toes and hit your thumb. It may be better to wear it once and look at the size feeling when buying it.
