Believe it or not, the Timp just got even better! This 1.5 version features softer cushioning, improved heel fit, more flexible midsole and a directional-mesh upper for a sleeker ride. The new mesh flexes directionally and will float over rocks and roots with ease, and with the addition of a 4-Point GaiterTrapô you can confidently run through sand, dirt and debris. Last but certainly not least, the DuraTreadô outsole rubber has been improved and made stickier for better traction and grip.

I have now worn around 10 pairs of Altras. They are great and the bad grip on wet surfaces in the beginning has been improved enormously. But they break really fast! This is my 3rd pair that broke down during an ultraloop. This time the mesh tore open again at the height of both small toes and I started to slide more into the shoe after 150km during an ultra in the Belgian Ardennes

Comfortable damping and spacious toe box means that the feet do not feel so tired after the long pass. I think Timp 1.5 is a good shoe even on flat surfaces, as Stefan says. I run in Timp 1.5 on the long pass and so I have Superior for the tempo pass. Timpen is definitely looser than Superior so try your hand at the size (I had to go down a half size from Superior)

Comfortable and a treat for the bunions!

I have wide feet and bunions. Altra shoes have made trail hiking comfortable again. These Timps are more padded than my Lone Peak 4s and I will use them for going on long hikes. I have just ordered a pair of Olympus 3s which have more padding than the Timp, but to be honest the Timp is great as it is.I am an Altra convert.

However, I am very fond of the gray and orange color option, which you do not offer. (You only offer the blue / lime and red / black versions.)
