It feels great running fast in this shoe - I've had personal bests in my 10k (38:30mins) and half marathon (26:30mins) using the Zoom Fly. Maybe I was due to get PBs in any shoe; but they did feel like they wanted to go my version of fast. Very comfortable and roomy toe box, although I sized up as that seems to work better for me for Nike (UK 14). It has a stiff feel as it has a nylon/carbon plate; and some runners report that they don't like running slowly in this shoe. Maybe because I'm quite heavy (92 kilos), I was happy running 8:30minute miles in it; but underfoot it is quite a different feel to the 6-7minute mile pace I get to in races/ faster workouts. I can imagine why a lighter runner (possibly an explanation?) might find that stiffness tiring to the feet and calves if you're on a long slow run. Striking mid foot it has a 'hardish' impact feel, and then I can feel the flex of the plate springing into a pleasing toe off. My feet haven't been sore underfoot after long runs in them, and my legs don't feel trashed in any way I wouldn't have anticipated for the effort level. Overall I really like the Zoom Fly and would get a second pair. However, although not a deal breaker for me, and if I got my wish it might not work; but I would still like to nudge down the stiffness and similarly make a slight tweak to make that hard impact feel less harsh - and maybe that's what will happen with the next generation.
