Be it backcountry summer trip or trail running through rugged terrains Black Diamond Distance Plus Z is a lightweight and compact trail running poles. This versatile poles always provides optimal functionality and comfort in the mountain environment.
The upgraded version is helpful for all 4 seasons and also features the new SlideLock Technology that allows the feasible operation of locking and collapsing of the trekking poles. Also, the swapping of Trekking baskets with Trekking Compact baskets makes it ideal to use for all four seasons.
Thanks to the Dual FlickLock Pro adjustability that offers secure grip, fast access and quick length whenever you are in need of some adjustments. The interchanging allows you to switch between carbide and rubber tips when you are trekking through rugged terrains or mountaineering through high rocks. And Non-slip EVA foam grip extension provides secure grip and quick choke ups on steep terrains.

Very good quality, as you'd expect from Black Diamond. These poles are slightly heavier than the carbon version but share the same design while being more robust. Very easy to lock into place and to then fold down small enough to go in a day sack. I went for the longest version (130cm) which work well for my height (6'3").

I bought these poles for mountain use (long approach walk, descent in scree, ...). I haven't been able to test them yet but at first glance they look perfect! Very light and super compact (fits easily in a minimalist multi-pitch bag)!

Black Diamond designed the most easy to use locking Z poles. Of the many that I've used before, this is by far the best, easiest to deploy and collapse.

I've used other Z poles before, while they were easy to deploy compared to regular poles, it could be hard to collapse them. The lock could also be hard to access sometimes. Black Diamond well designed lock and the connecting made it so easy to deploy and collapse. This is favorite poles by far!

Lightweight, compact and with excellent design they are ideal for trail. I prefer them over the carbon rods, since they flex and do not break so easily, and the difference in stiffness does not make a difference in their performance.
