Product description Altra Superior 4 Trail Running Shoes

Altra Superior 4 is a trail running shoe with which you can practice a mountain race. Its design has many benefit, it is light in weight and allows you to execute agile movements. On the instep, the version includes engineered mesh that allows air to pass to keep your skin dry and fresh for longer.

This women´s sports shoe features a Quantic midsole that is cushioned for unmatched foot comfort for longer. As for the heel it is rounded to allow better grip of the foot as well as a secure and comfortable fit. The cushioning system of this trail shoe encourages proper foot positioning and reduces the impact generated during pronation.

On the insole you will find FoodPod technology that is responsible for outlining the bones of the feet and tendons to help them to bend comfortably. Outside, it includes multidirectional earmuffs that allow greater grip, preventing you from skidding. The height of this sole is 26 millimeters. Its weight does not exceed 300 grams.
If you already loved the Superior, you are in for a treat. The Superior 4 is even lighter, grippier and sleeker. It features a knit, wrap-around style upper to more security, plush yet resilient Altra QuanticTM midsole and sticky MaxTracTM rubber outsole. The rounded heel style and updated lug pattern tops off this light weight trail crusher.

For wannabee barefoot runners who need cushioning

I use mostly barefoot shoes but when running on hard ground like asphalt I need a bit more cushioning. These are a good option for that, lightweight, zero drop, wide footshaped toebox but thicker, more cushioned sole than actual barefoot shoes.

Amazing shoes! Second pair after running altra races for a few years I find this works for me. My foot is long and narrow and I love the way this shoe grips all sorts of Terrain and has enough space in the footbed to stretch out and not feel locked in when I’m on the trail for hours. If this is how you like to train then highly consider this shoe. They are amazing!

My first pair made for women in size 44.5. And you can tell. They are even more comfortable than my other Altra and sit perfectly on the foot. Narrow in the distance and wide for the toes, they have a good grip while running.

Comparing Superior 2 & 4

I have my very first Altra Superior 2 as a gift, it fits me really well, especially the large toes box. Therefore, I have decided to get myself a pair of Superior 4. But, a little disappointed on the grip, it was not strong enough like superior 2. Superior 4 did make me slipped few times in the jungle even when the ground is dry.

I have got an Altra Superior 2 as a gift. Ever since I owned these shoes, I fall in love with the large room for toes. Decided to get a new pair of Altra Superior 4 because of the superior 2 fits me well. However, a little disappointed on the grip, it's a little slippery. My superior 2 was with really good grip, but superior 4 makes me slipped few times even on dry ground.

Shoes seem VERY comfortable in medio and forefoot but too large compared to the size comparison table with other brands! Look robust despite their lightness!

I love them

My shoes have so far over 160km in use and I absolutely love them. They are super comfortable from the first use - lots of space for toes, fitting well, natural in walking. The platform is thin and quite flexible, so it really works with the feet. The disadvantage of that is that you can feel every stone under the foot. But the platform has a very good grip and performs great in on the ground, forests, some stones and even bits of asphalt. The shoes are breating well and are really easy to clean. They also dry quite fast, especially if you need them to dry on the way. The material is comfortable but also thin, so again, if any pebbles are falling on the feet - you will feel it. I have not tried to use the additional inner layer when running on the stones - it may change a bit in the feeling. But overall - I highly recommend them.

Grip not strong enough

shoes is very comfortable especially the toe area as i have big bunion ,problem. however the grip is not very strong. slip few times during descending and the ground is not even muddy. king mt model still better than superior.
