Summer 2019 has been chosen by German brand adidas to bring important changes to its Alpha line that many runners and athletes barely dreamed of. By introducing Boost, thus replacing the venerable Bounce that for three years made its running shoes a great option in the mid-tier marketplace, adidas increases performance and running potential in their new offer: AlphaBoost.
The AlphaBoost sports a very versatile midsole, with a double density Boost layer that not only provides top-of-the-line cushioning, but also has increased stability thanks to a pair of strategically-placed pods near the heel. The presence of the always reliable Continental™ rubber compound, with a new wavy pattern, provides fantastic traction in any climatic condition.
In response to the integration of a heavier midsole, the upper is made with a mesh Supportive Forgedmesh that creates a lighter, more breathable feel and significantly reduces the AlphaBoost’s weight. Finally, a highly-adaptable lace closure provides more grip on the foot’s crucial zones during various training types and paces.
On the track or in the gym, these running shoes provide comfort and support for versatile movement. They have a breathable mesh upper with targeted areas of support and stretch for a personalised fit. Dual-density cushioning and stability pods on the outsole provide more stability through your stride. I wear a 7, ordered a 7.5 and I still found these shoes a little snug. I have slightly wider feet so the mid point was too tight and I felt the toe box could have been roomier. Switching for a different size so definitely recommend sizing up (again) if you have wide feet. Other than that, really good quality and a great design.
