Nike Pegasus Turbo 2

Nike Pegasus Turbo 2

Datum 18/02/2020

To talk about Pegasus is to talk about the history of athletics. Any shoe with this name is both comfortable and protective. Pegasus is a long-standing range, which is successfully still the model that holds the most records in the world for marathons (Vaporfly will soon overtake them). However, times change, and we must adapt to it. Comfort is no longer useful if it is not implicit with performance. Elite athletes stopped using Pegasus to compete (not to train) because they found other "faster" options. They found better models that were more protective. It was then, by spring 2018, when Nike understood that it had to come up with an alternative: Nike Pegasus Turbo is born.

In just two years and after being at the top in world sales (n.1 of Nike Running during this time), Pegasus Turbo is already well known among the "runner family". Neutral shoe, comfortable but also light and reactive (thanks to the material of the ZoomX sole)". Ideal for long runs at "happy" rhythms without hurting the muscles too much.

Pegasus Turbo 2 brings some important changes. The first and most prominent is the elimination of the wide strip that linked the tongue with the front of the shoe, which had generated so much criticism in the first version for being too “flashy”. Nike listens to its users and modifies this component making it lighter and more user-friendly.

Another great improvement is found in the tissue compound. The seamless “FlyMesh” system is more breathable and is lighter than the previous fabric.

The shoelaces have also improved thanks to the heat-sealed reinforcement that significantly reinforces the support of the foot. An important point for the user who wants to take advantage of them during high intensity exercise.

The rest of the characteristics that were successful in the first edition of these shoes are maintained: ZoomX foam (more lightness and return of energy), ankle finished point (more stability), 8mm drop and a fairly light shoe (220g).

The only “disadvantage” that I have found is the weakness of the front part of the sole in the heel. Being "separated" from the shoe, it can break easily if someone steps on you or you take off with the shoe very quickly, pulling on this area. Strengthening this area would be an important aspect in future editions.
