Tips to use taping for practicing sport

Taping is commonly used as a useful and protective technique by athletes. For many years, the Kinesiology taping KT tool has proven to be effective within the sporting arena. Taping has been a widely used mechanism for the prevention and treatment of sporting injuries.
Taping is also used to provide extra support to joints and muscles. Kelme, RehbandMc David, Ultimate Performance, and Uhlsport make and offer sports injury taping.

Tips to use taping for practising sport

To apply the tape you should remember these tips;

• You should clean and dry the area first. Lotions and oils can make it difficult for the tape to stick.
• Make sure you are not allergic to the adhesive tape and there is no inflammation or damaged skin in the area to be taped.
• It is always good to check the skin sensitivity of the person before putting on the sports taping.
• Next, trim excess hair from the skin.
• It is good to cut down rounded corners at the ends of each strip. The rounded edges help keep the tape on longer and are less likely to get snagged against clothing.
• When you apply the tape, don’t stretch the ends. If you stretch the ends, the tape will pull your skin, which could make the tape detach sooner and cause irritation.
• Rub the strip vigorously for a few seconds once you have applied the tape.

Why are sports tapes essential?

The tape is generally used by athletes and runners to:

• Relieve Pain
• Improve Joint Stability
• Enhance Athlete Confidence
• Reduce Injury Recurrence
• Prevent Injury
• Reduce Strain
• Facilitate Muscle Action
